How these SEO guides are written
SEO for a small UK business is not the same discipline as SEO for a national brand, and most of what is written about it quietly assumes the latter. These guides are about the version that works when you serve one town, one county or one specialism: ranking for the phrases people near you type.
That means the ordinary work rather than the clever work. A page for each service you sell and each area you cover, a Google Business Profile filled in properly, reviews arriving steadily rather than in bursts, and pages fast enough that nobody leaves before they load.
Search is also changing shape. AI Overviews and chat assistants now answer a share of the queries that used to send a click, which is a related but separate problem covered in the GEO guides. The two work together, and neither of them rescues a site that is technically unsound.
